Internet connections: Outside ISPs
The links below provide information about connecting to the Internet via an Internet service provider (ISP) other than IU.
- Finding an Internet service provider
- If you cannot access some IU services from off campus
- Keeping your computer secure if you use a cable modem or DSL
- Why computers in Microsoft domains aren't accessible when you connect to IUB through a non-IU ISP
If you're connecting to the Internet using an outside ISP and you plan to use campus-restricted services (such as certain library databases), manage files on the university web server, or access your Exchange account using Outlook, you'll need to use IU's virtual private network (VPN) as well; see Using IU's SSL VPN service.
